The music ministry at Mount Vernon Baptist Church offers both vocal and instrumental opportunities to serve the LORD in worship. All interested church members are encouraged to participate.

Vocal Music

• Preschooolers & Children

  Graded Preschool and children's choirs rehearse every Wednesday evening beginning at 6:15 in the Family Life Center. For more information, contact Jewel Kirk.

• Youth

  CrossQuest Youth Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening at 5:30 in the choir room located behind the sanctuary. Open to youth grades 7-12. Please contact Aaron McNutt (919-847-0160 x 241) for more information.

• Adults

  The Victory Choir is opent to all interested adult church members who have a relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord as Lord and Savior and who are called to lead our congregation in worship. The Victory Choir rehearses every Sunday evening at 5:00 in the choir room located behind the sanctuary. Please contact Aaron McNutt (919-847-0160 x 241) for more information.

Instrumental Music

• Orchestra

  The orchestra of Mount Vernon Baptist Church is open to all church members who have passed a simple, pain-free evaluation. Consisiting of gifted, older children, youth and adults, the orchestra rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:15. To schedule an initial evaluation, please contact Aaron McNutt (919-847-0160 x 241).

• Handbells

  JuBELLation, Mount Vernon's adult handbell choir, rehearses every Sunday afternoon at 4:00. Please contact Kim Poteat for rehearsal location and additional information.

Additional Opportunities

• Mission Raleigh

  Volunteers are always welcome to assist Mission Raleigh in weekly services at Urban Mission Points, Nursing Homes, and Prisons. Please contact Scott Brewer (919-847-0160 x 230) for more information.

• Choir Camp

  Each summer a week long children's choir camp is offered to the children of our community. With an emphasis on evangelism and worship, the camp concludes with a full musical presentation. For registration information or if you would like to assist as a volunteer, please contact Jewel Kirk.

The music ministry of Mount Vernon Baptist Church strives to praise Jesus Christ while edifying His diverse church body. It is our desire that all of our music ministries be marked by praise of the Savior and proclamation of His gospel.

If you would like to be a part of one of the ministries of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, you must take the holiness of God and your own sin before Him seriously. Jesus said, "But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and who humbles himself will be exalted." (Matthew 23:11-12). May we all humble ourselves before a holy, loving, and worthy God.
